Over 6 weeks you will learn and implement the skills necessary to improve your sleep. It improves sleep in 75-80% of insomnia patients and reduces [or eliminates] sleeping pill use in 90% of patients. CBT-I is based on the idea that insomnia can only be treated effectively by addressing the underlying causes of insomnia including ** thoughts and behaviors ** which are learned and can be unlearned. FAQ: What techniques can I expect to learn? - changing sleep thoughts and behaviors - lifestyle habits that improve sleep - relaxation techniques Who benefits from this? - individuals with problems falling and/or staying asleep - individuals who wish to reduce or eliminate sleep medications How long does the group go for? - an initial individual assessment + - five group-based 1-2 hour classes over a six week period - individual sessions (2-6) are considered on a case by case basis
